Walk on the Wild Side Free Community Festival

Take a walk on the wild side at this free community festival as we celebrate The Secret Language of Animals. Come dressed in your best animal costume, see the winning images from our photo contest, learn wildlife photography techniques, and more.

Alaskan Kuteeyaa Dancers
Begin your day with a spectacular performance and animal blessing by the Alaskan Kuteeyaa Dancers as they mimic animals and ancient spirits in Tlingit-language songs.

Grant Elementary Music Class
Hear several animal-themed songs performed by Grant Center for the Expressive Arts students.

Metro Arts Dance Performances
Enjoy a series of dance performances from the Tacoma School of the Arts and Metro Parks Tacoma, followed by a chance to learn a few dance steps of your own.

 2 pm

Story Telling Event
Play a part in an engaging reading of Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears: A West African Tale, led by students from Tacoma School of the Arts and followed by a storytelling workshop.

Digital Animal Photo Contest Winner
Whose photo won the Digital Animal Photo Contest? Find out as we take a look at our favorite photos and announce the winner of the photo contest!

Animal Blessing
Rev. Chris Morton, Executive Director of Associated Ministries, will provide a message on creation from Romans 8 and a blessing of an animal from the Humane Society.

Enjoy the Rainer Ringers Handbell Ensemble as they play a selection of animal-inspired music.
