Race & Pedagogy Virtual Talk | Cultivation as Practice: Responding to Samuel L. Dunson Jr.’s “The Cultivators” (2000)
September 12 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

How can we cultivate Black history and knowledge in our everyday lives? Join us on Zoom with the University of Puget Sound’s Race and Pedagogy Institute as they discuss questions and themes surrounding the Kinsey African American Art & History Collection at the Tacoma Art Museum. Panelists Renee Simms, Grace Livingston, Serena Sevasin, and Angela Weaver will discuss and respond to Samuel L. Dunson’s painting, The Cultivators (2000), weaving into their responses ideas about cultivation pertaining to storytelling, culture, arts, education, and Black history. This event is free and registration is required.
