En el hoyo (In the Pit)
Documentary | 2006 | 1hr 24min
Director: Juan Carlos Rulfo
A chronicle of a Mexico City construction crew working arduously on the construction of a second tier of the city’s seemingly endless Periferico freeway. Long work days and often harsh working conditions inform their anonymous labor, invisible to the countless drivers who pass the site each day. Rulfo gains precious access and insight into these laborers’ aspirations, their family lives, and the daily hazards of the job as the freeway’s deadline for completion looms. The ‘pit’ becomes an all-too-real as well as allegorical space, reflecting shared anxieties and deep pride in such intense engagement with the task at hand.
This event is free and registration is required as space is limited.
