Get to know our welcome pup, Leroy, with our fun and family-friendly Sketching with Leroy event! “Leroy, the Big Pup,” lovingly crafted by artist and owner Scott Fife, has cheerfully greeted visitors to the museum since 2006. Follow Leroy’s paw prints and your own sense of adventure through the galleries! Bring your creativity and be ready to sketch. Sketching with Leroy will be led by local art educator, Amelia Layton, and all materials will be provided.
Amelia Layton earned her Bachelor of Fine Art from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA, where she studied painting and printmaking. She went on to earn her Masters of Fine Art from the San Francisco Art Institute, studying painting and critical theory. A teacher at heart, Amelia has taught drawing and painting to all ages in personal and professional settings. While Amelia’s practice is rooted in abstraction, recently, she rediscovered the love of figuration, playing with watercolors during the pandemic. See more of Amelia’s work on her website.
