TAM Book Club: Detransition, Baby
September 10, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Tacoma Art Museum has selected Detransition, Baby as our September read. Torrey Peters’ debut explores what happens at the emotional, messy, vulnerable corners of womanhood that platitudes and good intentions can’t reach. Torrey Peters brilliantly and fearlessly navigates the most dangerous taboos around gender, sex, and relationships, gifting us a thrillingly original, witty, and deeply moving novel.

This month’s TAM Book Club will be led by Kellz Moylan. Kellz is a 22 year old non-binary individual who uses they/them pronouns. They attended the Tacoma School of the Arts, and were able to explore their interests in arts organizing. They were a member of the Tacoma Art Museum’s first Teen Art council, and interned with other art organizations in Tacoma including the Museum of Glass. Upon graduating high school, Kellz took a break from arts organizing to help organize for social justice. They now volunteer with Serve the People Tacoma, and attend the Pacific Lutheran University pursuing a major in Gender, Race and Class studies and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting
