He has developed techniques over the past 30 years that can help you create the art you want to see in fun and effective ways. He hopes to spark your imagination so you can create vivid\, dynamic imagery. Britton holds a BA in Imagination Implementation from The Evergreen State University.

SUMMARY:Gossip: Between Us Conversation Series featuring Jeffry Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:Join the curator of Gossip: Between Us\, Victoria Miles\, as we dive into the hot goss of our region’s art\, art history and culture with local and well renowned art historians and artists. \n*This quarterly conversation series will run through the duration of the exhibition. \nAbout Jeffry Mitchell\n\nArtist Jeffry Mitchell\nDescribing himself as a “gay folk artist\,” Jeffry Mitchell rejects the irony and elitism often associated with the art world. Instead\, he works from a philosophy of acceptance and constructs his art in vulnerable\, deeply human terms. \n\n\nMitchell’s primary medium is ceramic and he is well versed in its traditions around the globe (references to Early American glazes\, Pennsylvania Dutch pickle jars\, asymmetrical Japanese aesthetic decisions and Chinese Foo Dogs abound). He takes a very direct approach to working\, often eschewing refinements that commonly accompany many ceramic processes. The resulting pieces radiate an exuberant\, unbridled immediacy. He feels that this unfettered approach is essentially relatable to our shared human experience. \n\n\nJeffry Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (1980) in painting from the University of Dallas. He moved to Japan to teach English and stayed for three years\, apprenticing with a traditional production potter and studying calligraphy. In 1988\, he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in printmaking at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. In 2012\, the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle organized a retrospective exhibition “Like a Valentine: The Art of Jeffry Mitchell.”
