Art Class: Art Alternatives to Doomscrolling

Ever find yourself waiting for a friend at a coffee shop? Flight delayed and now you’ve got time to kill in an airport? Did you arrive too early at a restaurant, or the ferry dock? Put away the phone for a few minutes, and make some art instead! You don’t need a whole art studio to make some meaningful expression, either, you can use some simple tools to keep yourself thinking creatively.

These are your Art Alternatives to Doomscrolling! Six technique and idea ‘kits’ to help you be an artist wherever you have 10 minutes to be creative!” setting, and making space for creativity in our busy schedules.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials (sketchbooks, paints, brushes, etc.); however, Tacoma Art Museum will provide all necessary supplies.


Britton Sukys is a Tacoma-based painter, illustrator, and cartoonist. His careers have included Technical Theatre, Vascular Imaging, and art. He has developed techniques over the past 30 years that can help you create the art you want to see in fun and effective ways. He hopes to spark your imagination so you can create vivid, dynamic imagery. Britton holds a BA in Imagination Implementation from The Evergreen State University.
