Please come and enjoy live classical music in the gallery by violist Daniel Miles from 4:45-5:25pm on March 26, as part of our closing program for The One-Two Punch: 100 Years of Robert Colescott.

In response to Colescott’s works on view, Miles will be playing Florence Price’s Elfentanz (unaccompanied), Bach Suite 2 Prelude, Bach Suite 3 Prelude and William Grant Still Suite: II. Mother and Child.

Attendees are welcome to sit, stand, and quietly walk through the galleries during this performance. Seating is limited. We ask that guests remain silent during the duration of the performance.

About Daniel Miles

Miles received his B.A. in Viola Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and his Master of Music at USC Thornton, earning the university’s prestigious Strings Departmental Award at the master’s level. He has served as the Principal Viola in school and university orchestras, gaining valuable leadership and orchestral experience. He has participated in premiere music institutes such as the National Youth Orchestra 2016, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Music Academy of the West and Beverly Hills National Competition, etc. — and later receiving an invitation to join the ensemble IPalpiti. Miles currently serves as a viola teaching artist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA and maintains a lively performing and studio career. Some of these recent performances and recordings include:  Mad Tsai, WizKid, Jennifer Holliday, JEEZY: TM:101 LIVE with Color of Noize Orchestra, Adam Lambert and Cynthia Erivo: Jesus Christ Superstar, Gorillaz, Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall, Segerstrom Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, The Royal Concertgebouw, Tivoli Hall and Smetana Hall . He has also contributed to the soundtrack of the upcoming film release The Man with the Bag, among various others.
