tomakesenseofitall Exhibition Opening Party
One Image, Four Perspectives: Exploring Mediums & Expression
June 5 @ 5:30 pm | June 7 @ 11:00 am |
June 26 @ 5:30 pm | June 28 @ 11:00 am
Join artist Paige Pettibon for a four-session workshop that explores how different artistic mediums transform the same image. Participants will choose from one of four photographic images and reinterpret it through four distinct approaches, each designed to develop essential artistic skills.

These workshops take place 5:30-7:00 pm on Thursdays and 11:00 am-12:00 pm on Saturdays
Session 1: Charcoal
Focus on contrast and value, learning to break an image down into light and shadow.
Session 2: Collage
Experiment with abstract shapes and color relationships through layering and composition.
Session 3: Watercolor
Play with transparency and layering to create depth, movement, and mood.
Session 4: Oil Pastels
Bring the image to life with bold, opaque colors and expressive mark making.
This workshop is open to all skill levels and encourages playful exploration of materials. By the end, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how different mediums shape artistic interpretation and walk away with a unique four- part study of their chosen image.
By registering, you are committing to attending all four sessions as this will be a set cohort. There is limited capacity for these workshops.
Sculpting with Aisha
July 9 @ 10:30 am | July 11 @ 5:30 pm |
July 23 @ 10:30 am | July 25 @ 5:00 pm
This is a four-part workshop led by Aisha Harrison. Participants will respond to the work on view in the exhibition, tomakesenseofitall, by conceptualizing and creating a small sculpture which will then be fired.

Session 1: July 9, 2025: 10:30 am-12 pm
During the first workshop, we will gather in the gallery to look at the artwork and consider which work(s) to respond to. Participants will have an opportunity to do a guided writing activity and then make small clay sketches (maquettes) to flesh out their ideas.
Session 2: July 11, 5:30 pm -7:00 pm
Participants will consider their maquettes and choose a direction for their sculpture. Aisha will talk about solid building and participants will construct their pieces using the solid building method and low-tech armature solutions (where necessary).
Session 3: July 23, 10:30 am-12:00 pm
Participants will put the finishing touches on their sculptures. Aisha will demonstrate how to hollow, followed by hands-on practice.
Session 4: July 25, 5:00 pm-6:30 pm
Participants will finish hollowing and reflect on the process. The pieces will be fired at TAM and participants will be invited to pick up their pieces when they are ready.
Please confirm the above schedule works for you before registering. By registering, you are committing to attending all four sessions as this will be a set cohort. There is limited capacity for these workshops.
