Working with Tacoma Art Museum is something we have always wanted to do. We love art but fine art and artifacts take the cake and you all know why: it’s rare! And yes, we love most things rare but these are world renowned first editions and one of ones we are talking about. There is nothing like getting to touch history, especially when it’s yours and you’ve been deprived of it. It’s magnifying and gratifying. So let’s start with a thank you to the Kinsey family for bringing us into the fold. It has been a fulfilling experience to see everything up close and meeting the new TAM team in person. It’s been exciting to learn most of them are fully engaged in what we have going on. The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection is the largest collection of American art exclusively made by Black artists and it’s Black owned. It’s breathtaking. This is us yelling “YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!”
We became involved when Khalil Kinsey and Umi reconnected after fifteen years. This beautiful reunion sparked conversation about involving Tacoma more by involving us at eTceTera. Immediately, it made sense and we began talking about t-shirt collab, then a small capsule, and those ideas ultimately evolved into a five month pop-up. In full eTceTera fashion, there will be multiple drops of three-way collaborative merchandise from eTceTera x The Kinsey Collection x TAM between the opening reception July 31st and the closing of the show on November 28th. Let the roll out begin and don’t miss your chance to get your hands on one of the rarest releases we have been fortunate enough to put together, Saturday, July 31st at 10:00 am.
