Welcome to Tacoma Art Museum
Tacoma Art Museum is your museum: a place where art and community meet in the heart of the South Sound. It is an honor for all of us at TAM to steward this space and help create a vibrant cultural life for our region.
Art has the power to shape lives. My own journey began in a small town far from museums and galleries, and as someone born with a physical disability, I understand deeply the importance of accessibility and belonging. These experiences fuel our commitment to making TAM a museum for everyone—a place where art is not a luxury, but a tool for building smarter, more thoughtful, and more inspired communities.
One of our core goals is to be the most welcoming and community-focused art center in the Pacific Northwest. At TAM, accessibility isn’t an afterthought, but a guiding principle.
As an artist myself, I know the transformative energy of creative communities. The Pacific Northwest has a rich legacy of innovation across all art forms, and TAM is proud to be part of that story. Through exhibitions, classes, and public programs, we invite you to experience this legacy firsthand. Our vision is to lead nationally as the foremost museum for Pacific Northwest art.
But our collection goes far beyond regional work. Here you’ll find French Impressionism, American Modernism, Japanese Woodblock Prints, Art of the American West, and more. Explore our galleries, enjoy TAM Cinema, join a lecture, create in TAM Studio, or bring the family for Studio and Storytime. Whatever your interests, there’s a way to make TAM part of your life.
If you’re visiting Tacoma, we’re delighted to welcome you to one of the most creative and distinctive cities in the U.S. If you live nearby, this is your museum—a cultural home where history and contemporary art intersect in surprising ways. Beyond the galleries, you can shop in our Store, savor a meal at TAM Café, or become a member and enjoy exclusive benefits
We look forward to seeing you soon.
