Security Representative
Position Type: Full-time, Hourly, Temporary, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $13.00-$15.00/hour
Benefits: Not Eligible
Summary of Position
This position reports to the Director of Building Operations. This position is a non-exempt, full-time position with up to 40 hours per week. This person is responsible for monitoring all aspects of the security office during special exhibitions requiring additional security coverage. It is anticipated that the hours of work will be at least 8 hours per scheduled day and up to 14 hours dependent on specific coverage needs. This position will work primarily overnight shifts, between the hours of 8pm and 8am. This is a temporary position, the expected duration of this position is 9/1/19 – 2/1/20
Responsibilities
- Maintains and updates security log, noting any unusual activity
- Monitors security cameras from central control room monitoring station
- Monitors building alarms and access control software
- Notifies appropriate parties of any needed information in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and in writing
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must understand organizational structure and decision making process
- Must demonstrate good problem solving skills
- Possess the ability to work as a team player in a collaborative manner; with staff from all departments
- Availability to work evening, overtime and weekend hours as assigned
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- The qualified candidate must be committed to the museum’s brand personality: innovative, passionate, civic-minded, gracious, and approachable.
Travel, Working Conditions, and Physical Environment
The essential physical requirements of this position include:
- Frequent lifting of deliveries up to 50lbs
- Requires extended periods of stationary time monitoring cameras

The gift, announced on Mrs. Benaroya’s 93rd birthday, includes a contribution for the construction of a new 7,390 square-foot gallery addition in which to present the collection. The new wing has been designed by award-winning architect Tom Kundig of Seattle-based Olson Kundig and is projected to open in January 2019.
